Officer Saathi carries user-generated content: profiles, photos, voice, conversations, and written answers in Circles. This page sets out the safeguards we operate, in the terms Apple's App Store Review Guideline 1.2 and India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require of us.
Every member is verified before they are seen
Nobody appears to another member until a person on our team has read their proof of service or income, matched their selfie capture to their photos, checked their DigiLocker identity, and — for officers who claimed one — compared their civil-list record. Family referrals are additionally vouched for by their officer parent or, where the parent is not on the app, verified through the parent's own documents. This is the first and strongest safeguard: the people in the room are who they say they are.
What we screen automatically
- Circle answers and comments are checked before publication against a list of terms covering slurs, doxxing markers, solicitation of bribes and references to classified material. A match holds the post for a person to read rather than publishing it.
- Images in Circles are gated by a trust ramp — new members cannot post images until they have a history.
- Profiles and photos are reviewed by a person before approval.
- Rate limits apply to requests, passes, reports, support messages, screenshot events and assistant questions, so that no single account can flood another member or our queues.
- Screenshots and screen recordings are blocked in the app; each attempt is recorded (who, whose profile, which screen, when) and the person attempting it sees a confidentiality notice.
Automated screening is a first filter, not the decision. Human review is where moderation actually happens.
What you can report, and how
From the three-dot menu on any profile, conversation, Circle answer or reply you can report:
inappropriate content · harassment · fake profile · spam · someone who appears to be under 18 · a safety concern · anything else, with your own words.
In a Network chat you can also report unwanted advances in Network — flirting or romantic pressure in a professional conversation. Network is not a way round a member's choice about marriage.
You can also write to safety@officersaathi.com. Reports are never shown to the person reported. Reporting an anonymous Circle answer does not reveal its author to you — but it does to us.
Blocking
Block any member from their profile or the conversation menu. The block applies in both directions on every surface at once: Members, Picks, Search, Spotlight, Circles and conversations. The blocked member is not told. You can manage your blocks under Blocked profiles on the You tab.
Who reads reports, and how fast
Reports go to a human moderation queue staffed by our safety team.
| Step | Target |
|---|---|
| Acknowledge a complaint sent by email | within 24 hours |
| Triage every in-app report (read, and decide whether to hide content pending review) | within 24 hours |
| Content flagged by several members | hidden automatically until reviewed |
| Resolve a complaint | within 15 days, and faster for anything involving nudity, impersonation or a minor |
| Requests from law enforcement with valid legal process | as the law requires |
What we do about it
In proportion to the harm, and without notice to the offending member where the harm is serious:
- Warning for a minor lapse.
- Removal of the specific content.
- Mute — loss of the ability to write in Circles, or to send requests, for a period, while the rest of the account continues. Circle strikes are recorded.
Network hold and removal — when three different members report unwanted advances in Network, the member can make no new Network connections while our team reviews it; if the reports are upheld, they are removed from Network and their Network conversations are closed. Their marriage and friendship conversations are not affected.
- Suspension — the profile and all content hidden from everyone while we investigate.
- Permanent ban for anything harmful, exploitative, fraudulent or illegal, including forged documents, impersonation, sexual content, harassment after a block, or leaking official information. A record is kept to prevent return.
- Referral to the authorities where we believe a crime has been committed, and always for forged government documents.
A member who believes we got it wrong can write to Help & support in the app or to safety@officersaathi.com; a different person will look at it and reply. The decision remains ours.
Conversations
Chats are visible only to the two members in them and are encrypted in transit and at rest. They are not end-to-end encrypted. Our team does not read conversations in the ordinary course; a member of the safety team may open a specific thread to investigate a report filed by either participant, to answer a support request about it, or under legal compulsion. Nothing else — not moderation of Circles, not analytics, not the assistant — has access to message content. The same holds for answers to the games you play in a chat: they are private to the two of you and are never used for matching, recommendations or advertising.
Minors
The service is for adults only. Age is checked against the date of birth given at signup and the one DigiLocker returns. Any report that a member may be under 18 is treated as urgent; the account is suspended on receipt and removed if the report is borne out. Content involving minors is removed on sight and reported.
